Amanda C. Neidig

September 7, 1982 — October 12, 2023

Burlington, Colorado

Amanda Crystal Neidig, 41, of Burlington, CO, passed away at her home on Thursday,
October 12, 2023. She was born in 1982 in Burlington, Colorado to Cary Neidig and
Teri Vogt. In 1988, her younger sister, Jessica, arrived and soon became her favorite
playmate, biggest admirer, and best friend. The girls spent many happy hours with their
great grandparents, Bill and Vada Neidig. Amanda grew up with a love of animals,
family, friends, learning, art, and music… and in later years- hockey, particularly the Avs!
She attended Burlington Schools from kindergarten through 12th grade, where she
developed close, lasting friendships with both fellow students and teachers. One of the
highlights of her high school years was a trip to Canada with her French class. During
her K-12 years, she was involved in 4H, Drama Club, French Club, and the Kit Carson
County Fair. After graduating from Burlington High School, Amanda attended Morgan
Community College, where she earned an Associates of Arts Degree and attended
Metropolitan State University and Colorado State University. Though she never
completed her Bachelor’s Degree, she never stopped finding ways to gain new
information and continue to grow intellectually, particularly through reading a wide
variety of materials. She loved having conversations about literature and about current
events.
Growing up in the country, Amanda had a keen sense of the circle of life. She loved
and lost many animals through the years, but she also helped bring many animals into
the world. As a young girl, raising bottle-fed calves for 4H, we had to convince her that
the meat she was eating in her hamburger was from an “umi,” a fictitious, vicious breed
of cattle. Her belief in that tale was short-lived, and she soon became a vegetarian. She
was a sensitive child and adult who never wanted to hurt others. She was an advocate
for the underdog and a caretaker for humans and animals, alike. She helped many,
including grandparents and aunts, as they healed after surgeries and during illnesses.
Amanda was blessed to grow up with not only grandparents but great-grandparents in
her life… both on the Neidig side and the Perry (Grandma Joan) side. Amanda loved
being in nature; whether on the plains of Eastern Colorado or the foothills of Loveland,
she cherished the obvious beauty of both and found beauty where others might not.
Amanda is survived by her parents, Teri Vogt, Cary & Ronda Neidig; grandmother,
Jackie Neidig; her sister, Jessica Eagleboy (Justin); her fiance, Dylan Carter; her
half-sister, Cara Neidig Munoz; her stepsister, Brittni Smith (Bruce); her stepbrothers,
Leevi Nesbitt (Amanda Bazan) and Tyler (Laney) Nesbitt; grandmother, Marge Murphy;
aunts, Mary Vogt, Michelle Vogt (Bob Dwyer), Cindy (Brad) Neidig Bullard; uncle, Tim
Vogt. Cousins, Evan, Addie, and Colin Dwyer, Justin and Brandon Vogt; nieces &
nephews, Hataya Eagleboy, Balyee & Brennen Smith, Emma, Kinlee & Maddox Nesbitt,
and many deeply cherished friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her
grandparents, Joan and Jim Vogt; grandfather, Gary Neidig; uncle, Jody Neidig.
