Audrey Louise Campfield

January 12, 1935 - January 31, 2026

Audrey Louise Campfield, 91, of Bennett, Colorado, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026, at Hillcrest Care Center and The Towers (Assisted Living) in Wray, Colorado. Family, friends and staff members were able to bid her a fond goodbye.

Born at home on January 12, 1935, in Strasburg, Colorado to Frank and Merle Hanlon, she was the oldest of 5 children. She graduated from Strasburg High School in 1953 shortly before marrying Max Campfield on August 18, 1953. Together they built a life defined by hard work, family, faith, and community service. She was a wife, mother, farmer, retail associate at Joslins Department store and a Mary Kay representative.

She was actively engaged in the work of her church, both in Bennett and Strasburg, participating in church leadership, Bible Study and Sunday School. Audrey was supportive of her community as a member of the VFW Auxiliary, participated in town events and was a member of local recreation/activity centers. She enjoyed flower gardening and yardwork, baking, crocheting and spending time with her many friends. Audrey was known for her genuine kindness and generosity to everyone she encountered. Whether she was baking for a friend in need or teaching her grandkids to garden, she did everything with love.

She is survived by her children, Sharon Thornburg and her significant other Doug Waddingham, Gary Campfield and wife Karla Koenig-Campfield; her cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth Mehmen and husband Ben, Robert Thornburg and wife Gloria, Brianne Shivers, Tiffany Miller and husband David Miller, Charity Campfield, Shalana and husband Zach McCann, Samuel Campfield, Paul and wife Cassie Campfield, Levi Campfield and Julia Campfield; and numerous great grandchildren. They join with the extended family and friends who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Max Campfield and two of her four children, Janet Campfield and Michael Campfield.

She lived the way she gardened- with patience, care, and honest devotion. The seeds she planted in her family, her community, and her friendships will continue to bloom for generations. We trust she is at rest in God’s eternal garden and at peace surrounded by beauty.
