Barbara Nickell

December 29, 1952 — September 12, 2005

Barbara Ann Nickell died Monday September 12th 2005, at the age of 52. She was born December 29, 1952 in Colorado Springs to Evelyn and Robert Vratil of Limon. She attended Limon Public Schools, Northeastern Junior College and Metro State University as well as many professional computer classes throughout her career. She married Ron Bunch on January 4th 1971, and their daughter Amber was born in 1971. Barbara married Lonny Nickell on June 3rd 1978 and their son Robin was born in 1979. Barbara was savvy when it came to computers and this was evident in her work as a project manager for Ciber, where she had been managing a project at the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation. Although she was very passionate about her career, in her heart she was artist and her talent was unmistakable in the many pieces she made for her friends and family. A Colorado native, Barbara loved the mountains and going fishing in many rocky mountain lakes on her boat with her husband (whom she could always out fish). Barbara was preceded in death by her father Robert Vratil. Barbara is survived by her husband Lonny Nickell, son Robin Nickell, and daughter Amber Bunch of Aurora. She is also survived by her mother Evelyn Vratil of Limon, sister Becky Duden and her husband Ron, her niece Kristi Fisher and husband Todd of Colorado Springs as well as her sister Judy Vratil and her partner Marie Neal of Aurora. In addition, there are many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends as well as her beloved cats and dogs. Memorial services were held for Barbara Friday, September 16, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. at the United Methodist Church in Limon, CO with Frank and Linda Hoover and Larry Nickell officiating.
