Betty Jean Haight

January 7, 1951 — March 11, 2021

Betty Jean Haight (Montgomery), 70, peacefully went into the arms of our Lord and Savior on March 11, 2021. Betty was born January 7th, 1951, in Denver, Colorado to Theodore Rex Montgomery and Eleanor Jean (Dugan) Montgomery. Betty grew up outside of Deer Trail on a small farm and graduated from Deer Trail High School in 1969. While attending nursing school in Denver, Betty met the love of her life, Charles Ward Haight. They were married on August 29, 1970. Chuck and Betty made their home in Deer Trail, Colorado and had three children. While raising a family, Betty completed her degree in Education from Colorado Christian University. Betty began her teaching career at Byers where she taught 1st and 6th grade and later went to the Agate School as a math teacher where she retired in 2006. Betty was also an EMT with the Deer Trail Ambulance for many years. Betty was an avid swimmer and taught swimming lessons for 40 plus years. It was also one of her greatest pleasures to teach her grandchildren how to swim. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting, riding her motorcycle, camping, hiking, and traveling. Betty loved making Christmas gifts for her family. Betty’s true joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, having nerf gun wars in her house, baking cookies with them and the many Rockies games they attended. Betty’s devotion and strong belief in the Lord supported her throughout her life. She taught Sunday school for many years. Since her faith was so strong, you could feel it just by being around her. She would faithfully pray for you and would guide her family and friends through Christ. We were all blessed by her. Betty is survived by her loving husband, Chuck Haight; her sons Cliff (Rebecca) of Centennial, CO, Richard (Tara) of Deer Trail, CO, and Ralph (Monica) of Commerce City, CO ; 8 grandchildren, Benjamin, Corey (Molly), Kailey, Hannah, Tessa, Trenton, Tyson Haight and Margie (Scott) Nixon. Her sister Diane (Jim) Craven of Agate, CO. Her nephew Jason Craven and niece Jena (Steve) Ashcraft. Betty was preceded in death by her parents Ted and Eleanor Montgomery. Memorial Contributions can be made to The First Baptist Church of Deer Trail, CO.
