With deep sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Blaine Michael Erickson, 23, of Simla, Colorado. A beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend who left us on April 26, 2026.
Blaine was born on October 3, 2002 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Aric Erickson and Alicia Natale.
Blaine was at the heart of a beautiful blended family, and was deeply loved by many across both sides of his family. He was brave, kind, and intelligent. He had a natural ability to connect with others and could light up a room with his presence. He was a good person with a great heart for family, friends, and community.
Blaine attended Big Sandy School in Simla, Colorado where he graduated in 2021. In school, he enjoyed playing football, baseball, basketball, and working with his hands in woodshop class. Blaine always had a deep compassion for horses, dogs, and all animals. As Blaine came into his teen years he grew a love for outdoor hobbies including hunting, fishing, and shooting. Blaine had an old soul as classic country was usually his music of choice - the good stuff. Most days he could be found wearing his favorite shirt, hoodie or button up, jeans, cowboy boots and signature baseball cap.
Through his later teen years and after graduation, his true love became a selfless act of being a volunteer firefighter. Most of his time was spent with the Merino Volunteer Fire Department where Blaine was an eager learner and always ready to heed the call. He proudly served his community and became a part of the brotherhood.
He is survived by his father, Aric Erickson; his mother, Alicia Natale; his stepmother, Amy Erickson; and his stepfather, Todd Natale; his sisters, Kaitlyn Erickson, Emilee Erickson, Evelyn Price, and Quinn Erickson; his brothers, Tyler Natale, Luke Price, and Owen Erickson; his grandmothers, Judy Erickson, Brenda Atwell and Barbara McDonald; his grandfathers, Rick Atwell and Peter McDonald; and many loving aunts and uncles, including Shannon and Conan Korwek, Victoria and Jeremy McKitrick, Krista and Michael Kimball, and Kaitlyn and Eric Ollila as well as his nephew, cousins, friends and community members who will forever cherish his memory and hold him close to their hearts.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Christine McClellan; grandfathers, Joe Marty and Jim McClellan.
Although his years on Earth were cut short, Blaine lived with a huge heart, a caring spirit and a smile that could lift even the heaviest day. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Big Sandy School in Simla, with a lunch reception to follow. All who knew and loved Blaine are welcome to attend and celebrate his life.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Blaine Erickson’s memory can be made at Farmers State Bank in Calhan.
