Byron Ray Kinseth, age 67, of Flagler, CO passed away on Friday, October 21, 2022, at Advanced Health Care of Colorado Springs, in Colorado Springs, CO. He was born September 24, 1955 to Richard M. and Ramona (Loos) Kinseth of Ottosen, IA. Byron was a 1974 graduate of Twin Rivers High School, Bode, IA and attended North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) in Mason City, IA where he received a degree in diesel mechanics. Byron enjoyed and participated in sports his entire life. Growing up he played baseball with his brothers and cousins, participated in baseball, football and basketball in high school, football in college, and snow skiing and golf as an adult. He was also active in school band and chorus, played guitar, and sang with his siblings for several occasions and events. Byron was a member of the church choir, ChiCentra singers, and Luther League. As a child, Byron always wore his cowboy jacket. He moved to Colorado and made it his home. First living on a ranch and then moving to smaller communities where he was a volunteer fire fighter in each community. He loved the mountains and the Colorado air, it had always felt like home to him. Byron’s work career included time at Theisen’s, Schwan’s, John Deere, Ace Hardware and over the road trucking before going to work for Colorado Department of Transportation. He retired in 2021 from CDOT after nine years. Byron enjoyed time with his dogs, watching sports, and always looked forward to his next game of golf. Byron is survived by his beloved companion, Susan Woodard of Flagler, CO; a daughter and son from a previous marriage, Michelle Kinseth of Fort Collins, CO and Brent Kinseth of Colorado Springs, CO; three brothers, Craig Kinseth of Overland Park, KS, Gary (Kay) Kinseth of Algona, IA, and Richard J. (Kathleen) Kinseth of Des Moines, IA; two sisters, Marsha (Mike) Riordan of Oskaloosa, IA and Karen (Brett) Irving of Pittsfield, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard M. and Ramona Kinseth; and sister-in-law, Vicki Kinseth.
