Carol Sue Tatman, 77, of Simla, Colorado passed away September 23, 2021, at St. Francis Medical Center, in Colorado Springs.
Carol was born on December 29, 1943 to Oscar and Helen (Evans) Tidyman at home in Hayes
County, Nebraska. She was the fifth of eight children. Carol grew up on a farm in rural Hayes
County and attended Germanville country school through the 8th grade and graduated from
Hayes Center High School in 1962. She then attended Western Bible Institute in Morrison, Colorado, where she met Everett (Gene) Tatman. Carol and Gene were united in marriage on July 18, 1965, at Evergreen Union Church in rural Hayes County. To this union they were blessed with four children: Oscar, Paul, Julie and Ezra.
Carol served alongside Gene for the next 15 years as he pastored churches in several different states, often playing the piano for the church services and teaching Sunday school for the younger children. After the family moved to Simla, Colorado, Carol worked part time in the Simla School kitchen and then took a job in the kitchen at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, where she worked for many years. She then delivered mail on a rural contract route until her retirement, as well as cooking noon meals for the Senior Citizen Center in Simla. She then was the main care giver for her husband until his passing in December 2017.
Carol enjoyed visiting with family and friends and spending time with the ladies group at her church. She always had a smile to share and was one who could easily laugh. Carol was a comfort and encouragement to her family even in the hardest of times, such as her bout with cancer. Anytime she saw a need she was quick to do anything she could to help. In her down time, Carol would always be found with a book in her hand or listening to her favorite Christian radio programs. She also enjoyed playing the piano and singing hymns about her faith and relationship with her Savior.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband Gene Tatman. She is survived by her sons, Oscar, Paul, Ezra (Missy) and daughter Julie (Matt) Dockhorn of Comstock, NE. Grandchildren: Ashly,
Justin, Nicolle and Katelynn. Sisters: Naomi Ruppert, Donna (Don) Behnke, Bethel (Tom)
Stuart, Holly (Alvin) Gwin and brothers Bill (Marlene) Tidyman, Dean (Lori) Tidyman, Kenny (Mary) Tidyman. In-laws: Danny (Judy), Joe (Fran), Johnny and Shirley (Fred) and many nieces and nephews.
