Dale Ashcraft

February 11, 1936 — August 21, 2018

Everett (Dale) Ashcraft was born February 11, 1936 near Matheson, Colorado to Everett and Melissa (Riley) Ashcraft.  Dale passed away at home, near Matheson, August 21, 2018.  He was a lifelong resident of Colorado and graduated from Simla High School in 1954. Rarely did Dale meet a stranger that remained a stranger for long.

Dale started his farm/ranch life as a boy.  His favorite past time was reminiscing about his childhood and telling stories about his parents, sisters, extended family, friends, and their experiences in rural Colorado during the lean years of the thirties and forties.  Dale married Myrna Pisel October 9, 1959 and to this union they had three children.  In their early years of marriage Myrna stayed at home with the kids and did chores while Dale worked outside the home.  He first worked at Hamacher Well Works in Simla then later worked at sale barn in Limon.  He and Don Weaver would go on cattle buys and they would always take their fishing poles along and would stop somewhere to fish.  After a few years Dale and Myrna worked the farm/ranch with Dale doing custom work on the side and raising their family.

Through these years they built a marriage that was strong and nurturing to each other and their children.  Dale was devoted to his family always making sure they were always safe, secure and happy.  The song “That’s My Job”, describes the devotion and love he valued as a father to his family.  He loved his nieces and nephews and always talked about how important they were to him.  He enjoyed reaching out to friends and family everyday checking on how they were doing.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Elsie Ververs, Glady Carneal, and Bessie Leyerle, and his beloved wife Myrna.  He is survived by Carey (Grandson Andy Calloway), Curtis (Penny) Reynolds, and Rhonda (Bill) Christie, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones.
