David Lee Luttrull was born February 25, 1945, and passed away at his home on May 27, 2026. David was born in Terrell, Texas. He married Janice Dykes in June 1964 and because he just couldn't live without her, married her a second time in May 2000.
Growing up in Texas, David was an avid baseball and football player. After high school he joined the US Marine Corps and later worked as a cowboy in Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado. He settled into a life of farming, including many years with Progressive Farms east of Byers. He took great pride in his work. A skilled mechanic, he could lend his expertise to any situation. Later in his life he became a full-time truck driver and kept his truck in near-perfect condition. It will continue to be referred to as “Dave’s Truck”.
He was a quiet man, but those who knew him valued his practical advice and humor. When he spoke, it came from experience and carried weight. As a young man, he had more than a few adventures and stories that kept us laughing over the years.
In his later years, David struggled with his health but continued to take pride in working on projects. He took great care of his home and his vehicles especially.
David will be remembered for his devotion to Janice and for the life he built through hard work and determination. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
David is survived by his wife, Janice Luttrull, his daughter Sonya Lea Salazar, his grandchildren, Misty Parker, Amber Gasero and Justin Salazar and many friends who will cherish his memory. The Linnebur family and members of Progressive Farms will continue to feel his absence every day.
A private burial will be held at the Byers Cemetery on Thursday, June 11, 2026.
