David E. Schuler

March 20, 1937 — July 11, 2020

Dave Schuler - 83 On Saturday, July 11, 2020, Dave Schuler, a loving father and papa, passed away peacefully at the age of 83. Dave was born on March 20, 1937 on the family farm, in Ness City, Kansas to Richard and Stella (Everhart) Schuler. He attended the North Star Elementary School and Ness City High School where he graduated. After graduation, Dave went into the Army, where he was a Military Police Officer. After his time in the Army, he returned to Ness City where he then met his wife, Jenean Schuler. They were married on January 29, 1960. Dave and Jenean went to college and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from Fort Hays State University. They moved back to Ness City, where Dave became a police officer for the City of Ness. From there, he and Jenean moved to Towner, CO where he farmed and ranched. From Towner, they moved to Kutch, CO where they continued ranching. While at Kutch, they had their daughter, Tamara in 1973. Dave and Jenean made their final home in Yoder, CO where he spent the last 47 plus years ranching and enjoying his favorite occupation of excavation. Dave was known for his big heart, his unconditional love for his family and his kindness to all. If he could help someone he would. He enjoyed having coffee and visiting with friends at the Rush Cafe. He enjoyed having cattle and running his loader. He enjoyed helping and being a part of the Rush United Methodist Church. He had an amazing sense of humor and made people smile daily. His greatest passion was his grandsons, Jacob (15) and Jaxon (6). He was the best papa and father anyone could ever ask for. After Dave's tractor accident in October (2019) where he miraculously survived, he moved in with his daughter Tamara and his grandsons. This was a time that was treasured by all. It was truly a gift. Dave spent the last 7 months laughing with his daughter and grandsons, going to basketball games to watch Jacob play and cheer him on, watching deer visit the yard, eating out, cracking jokes to brighten up anyone's day, watching the Lone Ranger and enjoying the simple life. Dave showed everyone what it meant to be humble and kind. He always made people feel special and cared so much about everyone. No matter where he went, he was loved by all. Dave was preceded in death by his wife, Jenean, his father, Richard, his mother, Stella, his sister Ardith and his brothers, Wilbur, Dewey, and John. He is survived by his daughter Tamara, his grandsons, Jacob and Jaxon, his brothers Henry and Harold, his sisters, Arlene, Carolyn, Margaret and Donna, and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be on Saturday, July 18th, at The Living Word Community Church in Calhan, CO at 10 o'clock a.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to: The Calhan United Methodist Church 583 Denver Street Calhan, CO 80808 Tri-County Fire Department 590 North Rush Road Rush, CO 80833
