Longtime Burlington, Colorado resident Charles Dean Headley passed away on November 25, 2021 at St. Anthony North Hospital in Westminster, Colorado. He was 60 years old.
Dean was born on December 2, 1960 in Colby, Kansas to Cecil Duane and Willie Marie (Grooms) Headley.
He attended school in Brewster, Kansas until the eighth grade and then move to Oregon to complete his freshman year of high school. After he finished his freshman year of high school he move to Lamar, Colorado to go to work. He then moved to Burlington, Colorado for Pekarek’s and then for Paul Rhoades for twenty five years.
Dean would help anyone who needed it. If you needed a couple bucks and he had 10 in his pocket he would give it to you. His kindness was paid back to him after he helped Lily Behl feed her cattle on Christmas day when she needed help. She left him her farm in 2000 and there he continued to farm until the time of his passing.
Dean met and later married Theresa E. Martens (Peters) on December 28, 2000 on the farm in Burlington, Colorado.
Dean and Theresa enjoyed camping and fishing where they made many great memories together. They went south to Arizona and stayed in Laughlin, Nevada for two years. They met a lot of special people during their time in Laughlin. They went to Laughlin from November to March. Dean and Theresa had recently purchased a Pontoon boat for them to enjoy together. With this boat came the nickname “Captain Jack” because his crazy hair resembled Jack Nicholson while he drove it.
He loved farming raising wheat, corn, alfalfa and driving his tractor. Every morning him and his dog Piper would take a drive around the countryside. He loved spending time with his dogs Maggie, Piper, Daisy Rae and his cat Otto.
Dean had his FFL license and he loved guns. He enjoyed taking Theresa hunting for her deer and taking others hunting as well, mainly kids. Dean and Theresa also took many trips on their motorcycle, which was another of Dean’s favorite pastimes.
Dean will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his mom Willie Marie Headley, his brothers Cecil Duane Headley Jr, Dale Headley and his sister Lori Moore.
