Debra J Klapperich

Debra Jean Klapperich, age 67, of Limon, Colorado passed away on Sunday February22, 2026 at HCA HealthOne Aurora, Aurora, CO. (Aurora Medical Center) after a courageous 7-year battle with ovarian cancer surrounded by family and friends. 

Debra “Debi” was born on February 26,1958 in Saint Paul, MN, the daughter of Alvin and Barbara Anderson Obermann and graduated from Woodbury High School in 1976.Debi married her college sweetheart Mark Klapperich February 23rd, 1980 and began her journey into motherhood and family caretaker in Plainfield, WI. While living in Wisconsin Debi worked in a number of customer facing retail positions at Shopko and Nordic Mountain Ski Area before she became the Tri-County Area Schools Middle School Office Coordinator. In 1998 Debra and Mark Klapperich moved to Limon Colorado where she continued to work in customer-facing positions. Debi served as a guest services associate at the Holiday Inn, an administrative receptionist at the First National Bank of Limon and started her own business selling jewelry.

Debi retired as an Assistance Technician 3 from Lincoln County Department of Human Services in 2024. In her 17 years of service to residents of Lincoln County, she had many different roles including in the unofficial capacity as team caretaker and nurturer to all coworkers where she made treats and shared her homemade cards for every birthday and holiday.

Debi had a lifelong love for hands-on-crafts like baking, sewing (making matching Christmas dresses for her daughters when they were young), quilting, knitting, scrapbooking and cardmaking. It brought her so much happiness to see the joy in people’s faces when they received one of her handmade creations like her potholders, mittens and knitted pumpkins.

Debi enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren, card making club, all her crafting hobbies and Christmas music year-round.

Debra is survived by husband Mark E. Klapperich of Limon two daughters, Melissa “Missy” Klapperich  José C. Quiñones, Amanda Klapperich Tyler Dean of Monte Vista, great aunt E. Arlene Obermann of Limon and 3 grandchildren.

Debra was preceded in death by an infant son Patrick Klapperich (8/3/1983) and parents Alvin and Barbara Obermann.

Memorial Service for Debra Klapperich will be held on Saturday March 14,2026 at 11:00am at Love Funeral Home, 225 F Avenue, Limon, CO 80828. A celebration of life will follow at Limon Community Building, 477 D Avenue, Limon, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Colorado Gynecological Cancer Alliance
