Delmer Manyik

July 16, 1939 — January 14, 2018

Delmer Manyik, 78, was born on July 16, 1939, in Calhan, CO to Joe & Helen Manyik. He entered Heaven’s gates on Sunday, January 14, 2018. Delmer spent his childhood helping on the family farm and graduated from Calhan High School. He married his loving wife, Mildred (Millie) Gross, on July 23, 1960. To this union three children were born, Terri, Mark, and Lisa. Delmer was the pillar of his family, and his kids were of utmost importance. They could always count on a phone call daily just to check in and say I love you. Delmer owned and operated his own concrete business and later formed Manyik Excavating, a business he cultivated for more than 20 years. After closing down the excavating company, Delmer was a truck driver for Robison Brick where he hauled clay from the mines near his house to Denver. He was also an avid cattleman and enjoyed operating his cow/calf herd alongside his family. Delmer also enjoyed traveling with, Millie. His replica John Deere tractor collection was an impressive sight and something Delmer was very proud of. He also enjoyed cooking and was famous for his homemade chicken noodle soup and his meatballs. Anybody was always welcome to eat. In his later years, Delmer enjoyed spending time with his family and always had a puzzle going in the office. He and Millie enjoyed a friendly game of Scrabble at the kitchen table each afternoon and he always tried to create his own word when he had nothing else to gain the lead. He was extremely proud of his six grandchildren who affectionately called him, Pa. There were not many ball games or livestock shows that Pa didn’t attend, and there was no doubt, that he was one of their biggest fans. Delmer also had 5 great-grandchildren, Aiden, Sydel, Brant, Barrett, and Hilton. These kids were a light in his life and brought Pa much joy whenever they were around. Delmer is survived by his wife, Millie, his three children, Terri & Victor Volosin, Mark Manyik, Lisa & Randy Martin; sisters Chris & Ray Kosley, Shirley & Lloyd Skidmore; 6 grandchildren, Aaron & Maggie Volosin, Melissa & Trevor Smith, Jamie & Donovan Mitchell, Chance & Krystalynn Manyik, Kasey & Stephanie Martin, and Jared Martin; 5 great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe & Helen Manyik and his sister Kathleen Neptune.
