Donald Stuart Mandeville, Jr. was born on April 9, 1949, in Huntington Park, California, the firstborn child of Donald and Vivian Mandeville. His childhood years were spent growing up in the Los Angeles area alongside his younger sister, Cheri, his uncle Joe Sieifried, and a lively group of cousins.
He graduated from Lynwood High School with honors in 1967, then briefly attended the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, before continuing his studies at the University of California, Riverside. In 1970, he married Susan Marie Tobin, and in 1980 they left California to make their home in Colorado, where they raised their four children—David, Rebekah, Nathaniel, and Richard. Donald and Susan divorced in 1993.
Don enjoyed a long and successful career in software engineering for the aviation industry, first with United Airlines and later with Jeppesen. In 1998, he met and married his soulmate, Kathleen Noonan, celebrating a beautiful wedding in Denver followed by a honeymoon in the Hawaiian Islands. After many happy years living in Denver, they bought land on the eastern plains of Colorado and embarked on a project to embrace the natural prairie life—to live in the open space beneath the expansive sky, to bask in nature, to feel closer to the Lord, and to watch the birds and the antelope. They spent many joyful years in the home they built there, raising chickens and hosting cows on their pasture, content in the peace and beauty of the land.
Don passed away suddenly on October 12, 2025, in this home he shared with Kathleen, surrounded by his beloved dog, Maggie, his lifelong rock collection, and the peace of Jesus Christ in his heart. He was 76 years old.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Mandeville; his children David Mandeville, Rebekah Mandeville, Nathaniel Mandeville (Cara), and Richard Mandeville (Carrie); and his grandchildren Jacob Simpson (Sarah), James Gelvin, Daniel Mandeville, Ryan Mandeville, Henry Gelvin, Ian Mandeville, Cory Mandeville, and Hope Mandeville. He is also survived by his sister Cheri Jacobs (John) and his uncle—more like a brother—Joe Siefried (Nancy), and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Stuart Mandeville, Sr. and Vivian Marjorie Mandeville (Brace), and by his dog Newton, whom he loved fiercely.
Donald was cremated, and the family will hold a memorial service in the spring of 2026 in Denver, Colorado.
