Dorothy M. Engel

 Dorothy Mae Engel, born on May 3, 1931, and cherished by all who knew her, peacefully departed this world at the Lincoln Health Community Home on November 4, 2024, at the age of 93. Dorothy's journey began in Arriba, later she married her beloved, William Engel, on a beautiful partnership that lasted 75 wonderful years. Together, they created a home and welcomed five loving children into their family.

 Throughout her life, Dorothy demonstrated remarkable dedication to her community, notably serving for twenty years with the RSVP program. Her passion for gardening was evident in the vibrant flowers that filled her home and heart. An excellent homemaker, Dorothy was known for her delicious homemade cinnamon rolls and coconut cream pies, delights that brought joy to family gatherings and celebrations. Her commitment to her faith was unwavering, as she cherished her role within the United Methodist Church and actively participated in the Methodist Women’s Club. 

Dorothy leaves behind a legacy filled with love and cherished memories. She is survived by her devoted husband, William Engel, of Limon, CO; her children Ed Engel (Cindy Blanski) of Limon, CO; Dan (Karen) Engel of Surprise, AZ; Len Engel of Limon, CO; and Carole (Mark) Hayes of Genoa, CO; Cheryl Engel of Highland Ranch, CO, along with her siblings Kay Willoughby, Kary Lou Martin, and Billie Johnson. The joy of her life continued through her nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way in January.

 She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Sister Doris Maskus, and brothers Kenny and Raymond Chubbuck.
