Earl Hedgecoke

October 11, 1937 — August 21, 2018

Aurora, Colorado resident Earl Hedgecoke passed away on August 21, 2018 at the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora with his family by his side.  He was 80 years old.

Escar Earl Hedgecoke was born on October 11, 1937 to Sidney and Hazel (McCormick) Hedgecoke in Peralta, New Mexico.  He was one of five children born to this union.

Earl attended school Fort Summer, New Mexico and graduated from Fort Summer High in May of 1956.  He then continued his education at the University of New Mexico, Lamar Junior College, and finishing at Adams State College with his degree in Civil Engineering in 1964. 

Earl met and later married the love of his life Margaret Ann Conarty on August 30, 1964 in Seibert, Colorado.  To this union four children were born; Carleen, Corinne, Ronald and Christine.

During his civil engineer career he helped build the Eisenhower Tunnel, construction on I-70 Interstate at Flagler, Colorado, and construction on the highway in Frisco, Colorado.  During his higher education his earned his teaching certificate, was on the Dean’s Honor Roll, captain of Adam’s State Track Team for 2 years, and received his advanced surveying certificate at the Colorado School of Mines in 1997.  He was a civil engineer for the Colorado Department of Transportation until his retirement in 1994.

Earl loved to fish, hunt for rocks to add to his collection, liked watching the Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies.  He was great family man and his adored his wife, Margaret.

He was member of the Church of Christ in Flagler, Colorado.

Earl is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Sidney Hedgecoke.

Those life to cherish his memories are his wife Margaret of Aurora, Colorado, his daughters; Carleen (Sean) Mendez of Castle Rock, Colorado, Corinne (John) Purcell of Aurora, Colorado, Christine (Jerry) Schloffman of Castle Rock, Colorado, his son Ronald (Jennifer) Hedgecoke of Columbus, Georgia, 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, sisters; Virgie Baker, Doris (Roy) Ray of Texas, Wilma Tunezz of New Mexico, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorials may be made to any first responders in Aurora, Colorado or your local area and may be left at or sent to Love Funeral Home, 377 15th Street, Burlington, Colorado.
