Ethel Marie Yoder of Limon Co passed away January 12, 2022 at the very young age of 96. Ethel was born in Shickley Nebraska to Bill and Rosa Saltzman. Ethel was born fifth of twelve siblings. The family moved to Limon Co when Ethel was a young girl. It was here that Ethel met the love of her life Carl Yoder. Ethel and Carl were married September 6,1942 this union lasted until Carl’s death October 1, 1982. To this union seven children were born, Terry and Jerry, Karen, Robert, Jim, Linda and Jack. Ethel spent her days raising her brood and caring for the family home. To help support her family Ethel went to work for Bud Wonder at Wonder’s Grocery. When Bud sold the store to Jim Shields, Ethel would say she was sold with the business, this always made her laugh. After Jim sold the grocery store Ethel went to work at the nursing home in Limon. Ethel worked there as a cook for several years. After retirement you would find Ethel beginning each day enjoying a cup with the morning coffee club. Her contagious smile brightened everyone’s day. Until Ethel’s eyesight failed she was an avid reader of all sorts of books, her favorites westerns. Ethel also spent her time embroidering tea towels. Everyone wanted a set of Granny’s tea towels. Ethel would make a special set for the White Elephant auction at family reunions. It was fun to see who was going to out bid who. Ethel always had a soft spot for her grandchildren and was always willing to lend an ear.
Ethel was preceded in death by all eleven of her siblings. Sons Jerry and Jack, one grandson and three great grandchildren.
Ethel is survived by her children Terry and Linda of Limon, Karen of Limon, Bob and Suzie of Byers, Jim and Nonie of Greeley, and Linda of Limon. Ethel leaves 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
