Evelyn L. Eslinger

Evelyn Lorraine (Matthies) Eslinger was born to Della E (Leander) and Harold E. Matthies on June 19, 1939, in Burlington, Colorado. Her schooling years were attended at Country School Southwest of Burlington, Colorado, Smoky Hill, and then to Bethune. She had a job in Burlington for three years, then went back to the farm and helped her parents milk cows and farming and what goes with living on a farm. On July 1, 1956 (her parents' anniversary), she married her school sweetheart, Wesley Eslinger. 1957, they left Colorado and moved northeast of Goodland, north of Edson, Kansas, to a dairy farm. In that year, a son, Rod Wayne, was born, and in 1959, a daughter was born, Tamie Sue and Laura Jean, in 1961. In August 1961, she and her family left Kansas and moved back to Colorado. They moved Northeast of Burlington on a farm, and after all her children were grown, she and Wesley retired and moved into Burlington in 2002. She loved her family very much, had a great love of gardening flowers and being outdoors, going for walks with her dog, and loved cats. 

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, husband Wesley Eslinger, daughter Tammie Zemp, sisters Ruth and Pauline, and an infant grandson, Luke Eslinger. She is survived by her sisters Bonnie, Peggy, and Linda. Son, Rodney Eslinger of Ft. Collins, Colorado, and his children Christine, Anna, and Mathew. Daughter Laura Eslinger of Meriden, Kansas, and her children ReAnne Kirkpatrick of Topeka, Ryan Lamb of Topeka, and Christopher Kirkpatrick of Topeka. Grandsons from Tammie are Bob Nelson of Aurora, CO, Mike Nelson of Aurora, CO, Tim Nelson of Aurora, CO, Daniel Zemp of North Carolina, and fourteen great-grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and adoring friends who will miss her dearly.
