Mary Evelyn Schroth passed away on Monday, April 29, 2019, in Aurora, Colorado.
Mary "Evelyn" Eads Schroth was born October 19, 1927, at the home of her mother's parents, Henry and Virgie Hardy, near Coyle, Oklahoma. She was named after her great grandmother, Laura Evelyn Eads. Evelyn was the oldest of six children born to James Earl and Vernie (Hardy) Eads.
Evelyn attended school north of Bennett at Central Valley School until Eighth Grade. She then attended Bennett High School where her high school yearbook described her as "a bundle of smiles". As a teenager, she met the love of her life, Walt Schroth, when Pearl Harbor was bombed; he was
drafted into the Army. After discharge from the Infantry, they married on August 23, 1947.
Walt died on August 14, 2009, after being happily married to Evelyn almost 62 years. After Walt's death, Evelyn dedicated her time to the Strasburg Food Bank. She dearly loved doing this work. Evelyn is survived by two of her children, Bob Schroth and Sharon Boyd; 8 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and brother Jerry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walt; her son, Bill; and four brothers Jim, John, Jack and Bobby.
