Floyd D. Foncannon

Floyd David Foncannon (also Dave, Davey) 93 years old (25 days short of 94), passed away July 20th, 2026, in Hugo, Colorado. Residence in Limon, Colorado.

Born 8/13/1932 in Limon (house behind the station that he and John would later own) to Floyd J. and Saloma Ummel Foncannon, big sister Whilhemina (Billie) Adelman and ahead of little brother John. He had an 8th grade education and 2 years of 1W service at General Rose Hospital in Denver, Colorado.

He was a mechanic most of his life. Judging by stories of nursing “new” farm machinery back to health so they could farm “Foncannon Hill” 7 miles north of Limon. Mechanical talent came early along with “on the job” training. He and his brother John would turn that training into a business, John and Floyd’s Repair, located in the Sinclair Station. He had also worked at the Ford garage for 18 yrs prior to starting his own business, building quite the reputation with his skill.

Along with mechanic work, he remained a farm boy at heart. He talked often of the love of watching things grow and he GREW things, especially in his home garden in later years. When Floyd “retired” from his repair shop, he soon found work at Mtn. View Electric where he got to do both repair and maintenance and grounds work. The “best job” he ever had!

Faith was at the center of his life, beginning with 14 mile one-way trips to the Mennonite Church South of Limon, laying up behind the back seat of a Model T! Then, after church, they would drive back home to gather round and have his dad read the bible before bed.

He would serve as Sunday School Superintendent, teacher, janitor, groundskeeper, etc., at the Limon Mennonite Church. And more recently, he enjoyed grounds work at High Plains Baptist Church! Always the loving servant and an example for us children.

And there was the music – a cappella at the Mennonite church, learning Opry music from the radio with brother John (both playing guitar and singing), family jam sessions at the house, and he sang in several male quartets.

Speaking of growing and faith, Floyd was a loving/mentoring father to two families. First with Delores Foncannon (married October 1956) – and had two sons, David Allen and Floyd Jacob.

And a number of years after Delores’ passing, he formed a second family with Doreen Nall Lindsay and her daughters Liana and Duana (and spouses). His story of the first phone call for a coffee date was hilarious. He often spoke of finding the blessing of finding the same aura of love and faith with Doreen and the new siblings that was in his first marriage. His faith and love bound us all together in miraculous ways.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings and first wife.

He is survived by wife Doreen, sons David (Brenda) Foncannon, Floyd (Lisa) Foncannon, daughters Liana (Rob) Mougey, and Duana (Dyke) Sampson, Grandchildren Michael Foncannon, Cori (Matthew) Stonebridge, Jared (Michael) Foncannon, Jennifer Foncannon, Jacob Foncannon, Joey Foncannon and 7 great grandchildren.
