Francis J. Behrens

December 8, 1955 — July 23, 2021

Francis Joseph Behrens, aka Frankie Joe, age 65 of Strasburg, Colorado passed away July 23, 2021 at UCHealth in Aurora after a long battle with congestive heart failure. Frankie Joe was born December 8, 1955 at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver. He was the son of William (Bill) and Marie Behrens of Watkins. He was the oldest of five children, Brother Larry and Sisters Mary, Betty and Barb. He attended school for one year in Watkins and the remainder of his school years in Bennett. He enjoyed playing basketball and always said he did a good job guarding the water bucket and sitting on the bench for football and baseball. After graduation Frank began his career path at Davis Tire Shop, followed by Strasburg Equipment, Bennett School bus driver, Kalcevic Farms, CIG and Arapahoe County. He was active with the Bennett Volunteer Fire and Rescue. He enjoyed keeping score at the Bennett and Strasburg basketball games and working the chain gang for the Bennett football games. Frankie Joe married Robyn Simons of Bennett on Aug. 19, 1989 at Our Lady Of The Plains Catholic Church in Byers. They purchased their current home in Strasburg in October 1989 and have resided there ever since. They completed their family with the birth of their daughter Shelby Montana on October 29, 1992. His passions included driving truck for Kalcevic Farms and always looked forward to helping with wheat harvest every summer. His most favorite pastime was probably watching and supporting any and every sport event involving the Strasburg teams, especially softball and his beloved girls. He enjoyed watching and cheering for the Colorado Avalanche and the Colorado Rockies from his living room recliner as well. Frank was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it and really enjoyed visiting and chatting on the phone with friends, family and neighbors. He also loved a good game of Canasta, Christmas White Elephant Competition, winning homemade salsa, Grandma Dodos Kraut Bierocks and fighting over Christmas goodies and treats. Frankie Joe is survived by his wife Robyn of almost 32 years and his daughter Shelby, Brother Larry (Peggy) Behrens of Exeter Missouri; Sister Mary (Jerry) Guhl of Aurora Colorado; Sister Betty (Greg) Peters of Cortez, Colorado; Sister Barb (Dave) Adams of Strasburg, Colorado; numerous nieces and nephews, numerous cousins, dear friends, and beloved dog Cowboy. He was preceded in death by his parents, maternal and paternal grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles.
