Gary Wayne Rose was born September 7, 1940, in Woodward, Oklahoma, to Alice and Thomas Rose. They moved from Oklahoma to California, and he eventually completed high school in Monterey, California. He then joined the U.S. Air Force where he became an airplane mechanic and crew chief. After completing his Air Force service, he went to work for commercial airlines which included Ozark Air, TWA, and US Air.

He met Joyce Blackaby where they both worked at Stapleton Airport in Denver, Colorado. They married in August of 1983 and were happy together for 41 years, when he was preceded in death by Joyce in September of 2024.

Gary was very active in Scottish Highland games representing the Rose Clan and traveled to the clan castle in Scotland twice. He enjoyed hobbies of jewelry making and repair, and wood turning. He loved antique cars and proudly owned and maintained a 1930 Model A Coupe.

He is survived by his sisters: Carol Durr, Ramona Thompson and their families; his step-children: Carol Pinneke/Wayne, Cathe Campbell, Rob Blackaby/Leslie, Dottie Oliviera; his grandchildren: Janel Jackson, Dale Pinneke, Patrice Connelly, Daniel Nicholas, RJ Blackaby, Courtney Ross, Bethany Cole, Mercy Oliveira, Heather Rose, Grace Grant, Jacob Grant; and a dozen plus great grandchildren. He is also survived by his former wife Evelyn Tankersley and the children from that marriage: Ranea and Aliece. Gary was preceded in death by his son Gary D’Wayne Rose.
