Sharon Springs, Kansas resident Helen Trevino passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Encompass Hospice in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. She was 86 years old.
Helen was born on August 18, 1934 to Epimenio and Paula (Hernandez) Martinez. She was the youngest of five children born to this union.
She went to school in Karnes City, Texas until the 4th grade. Her parents passed away when she was very young so she was raised by her sisters and her uncle.
Helen got married to Jose Angel Trevino in 1949. There were twelve children born to this union. Her husband passed away in 1984.
The family moved to Burlington in 1969. She worked for the hospital as a housekeeper for many years and then later on they owned and managed the Downtown Café and Motel located in downtown Burlington. They also owned and operated the Dickerson Convenience Store in Burlington.
Some of her favorite pastimes were playing bingo, cooking, and going to auctions. She was known by many people in Burlington and she had lots of friends.
She was a member of the St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and the Rosary and Altar Society.
She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jose, two sons; Johnny and Frankie Trevino, three infant daughters; Paula, Patricia and Helen, and four sisters; Minnie, Eva, Josephine, and Guadalupe.
Those left to cherish her memories are her children; Manuel Trevino of Alice, Texas, Frances and Tino Morales of Amarillo, Texas, Rosa and Johnny Salazar of Lorenzo, Texas, Ruben and Carlotta Trevino of Burlington, Colorado, Bertha and Raymond Galvan of Victoria, Texas, Lydia Maldonado of Dodge City, Kansas, Joe, Jr. Trevino of Goodland, Kansas, Susie and Keith Vigil of Arvada, Colorado, Rene Trevino of Sharon Springs, Kansas, and Abel Trevino of Littleton, Colorado. Also surviving Helen are numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
