Born on July 23, 1934, in Byers, Colorado, to James F. Johnson and Trese E. Murphy, his legacy is one of hard work, love for family, and a passion for nature.
Hugh's career as a Heavy Highway Civil Superintendent showcased his dedication to his profession and his unwavering commitment to the infrastructure of his community. He served honorably in the Army, embodying the values of service and duty that characterized his life.
Married to Deanna Simmons on June 18, 1959, Hugh built a life filled with love and family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Deanna Simmons Johnson of Deer Trail, CO, and his children: son, Hugh (Patty) Johnson of Littleton, CO; daughter, Mellany (Sergio) Cisneros of Aurora, CO; son, Charles Johnson of Albuquerque, NM; and son, Carl (Shawna) Johnson of Albuquerque, NM. His family continues to cherish his memory through his ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy.
Hugh was known for his passion for gardening and his enthusiasm as a rock hound, dedicating time to cutting and polishing stones. He was affectionately referred to as the "Rock Hound," a testament to his keen interest in the natural world. Additionally, he was a proud member of Elks BPOE 2307 and Deer Trail Legion 121, where he contributed to his community and formed lasting friendships.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild, along with eight siblings. Hugh Edward Johnson leaves behind a legacy of love, diligence, and a deep appreciation for family and nature, remembered fondly by all who knew him.
