Jacob Rains

It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Jacob David Rains on September 26, 2025.

Jacob was born August 31, 1983, in Ogden, Utah. He was raised in Evanston, Wyoming. He left Evanston and moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. After many years, he decided to move to Colorado to be closer to his family.

Jacob enjoyed snowboarding and golfing with his dad. Jacob also loved to talk and watch old westerns. The TV show Laramie was his favorite which he shared with his Grandma Hoof.

He received his bachelor’s degree for creative writing and English in 2022 from Southern New Hampshire University. Jacob made Honor Roll numerous times. He was a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success. He was working on his master’s in Creative Writing and English.

Jacob is survived by his parents, Clay and Denise Rains of Byers, Colorado; his daughters, Jade and Jena Rains of Byers, Colorado; his brother, Joshua Rains of Byers, Colorado; and his sister, Jennifer Rains of Mesquite, Nevada. He is also survived by his nieces, Shayleen Stahley and Isabella Rains; nephew, Hunter Rains; and great niece, Jupiter Rose. Other family members include Susan Ford, Sharron (Dean) Christensen and Sharlene Hoof, Skeeter and Rita Rains and numerous cousins.

Jacob is preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Monica Hoof; and Elmer and Josphine Rains; his uncle, Robert J Hoof; his niece, Sofia Ann-Marie Rains; and his uncle, Brace Rains.

Jacob was cremated.
