Jamie R. Meyer

January 8, 1981 — August 30, 2023

Burlington, Colorado

Jamie Ray Meyer was born in Burlington, Colorado. He was a very special gift to his mother Dorothy, who had always wanted to give birth to a child. Jamie was brought home to Bethune, CO to join his 10-year-old sister Sheryl and 8-year-old brother Stanley. He was then baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church, North of Bethune. His mother decided to go back to college at Aims Community College, so the family moved to Greeley, CO for one year. Dorothy raised the 3 children with the help of her parents and the Meyer family who lived North of Bethune. The children spent a lot of time with them when Dorothy was working. When Jamie was young, Alma Beringer babysat him out at the German Settlement farm where he would spend time with his great aunts and uncles. Jamie’s grandparents were then raising his cousin Erick Meyer, who was 1 year older than him. The 4 kids grew up together like siblings. Most of Jamie’s childhood was spent riding his bike, spending time with his dog Puppy, and playing with Erick. He also spent many hours hanging out at the school in Bethune since it was just across the street from their home. Jamie was not very interested in school and struggled most of his years. So, when he was a sophomore in high school, he moved to Ruleton, KS to live with his sister Sheryl and her family. He attended Goodland high school for that year. He enjoyed riding the bus with his nephew Dusty and made many great memories on the farm with his nieces Paige and Sierra as well. They all shared a love for animals. When Sierra was born, he was so excited to be her God parent for her Baptism. In 2014, Jamie moved to Nevada where he worked on the Happy Creek Ranch for Erick and Glen. He learned many things there and enjoyed trapping gophers. Following that, Jamie moved back to Bethune to take care of his ailing mother in her last years. He also returned to working at Triple A Brand Meat Company. He made many new friends there and reconnected with some old ones. One such friend even brought him back to church and reaffirmed his love for Jesus Christ. Piquing his interest in Christian music, where he would get the lyrics and analyze them. Some of Jamie’s favorite things were writing stories, songs and bible verses, listening to music, playing Madden and wrestling video games, boxing, watching WWE wrestling, and caring for his cats. He grew up with many animals, loving dogs and horses but always loving his many cats the most. He was known for being a free spirit, kind, loving, fun, and always clowning around to get you to laugh. There was never a dull moment with Jamie around. Jamie passed away on August 30, 2023, in Bethune, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his Mother Dorothy Meyer, his brother Stanley Meyer, his maternal grandparents Clord and Clara Meyer, his uncles Clordy and Dale Meyer. He is survived by Sister Sheryl (Glen) Thiede of Midas, NV, Cousin Erick Meyer of Bethune, CO. He is also survived by his Nephew Dusty Thiede of Golconda, NV and Niece Paige (Colton) great nephew Wesley Vega of Montello, NV and God Child Sierra Thiede of Midas, NV. Graveside Services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church north of Bethune in November, date to be determined. The family would like to thank all our friends and family for their love, friendship, and prayers during this difficult time.
