Jeffrey C. Covington

Jeffrey C. Covington September 12, 1966 - July 20, 2026 Limon, Colorado

Jeffrey Charles Covington passed away on July 20, 2026 at his home in Limon, Colorado at the young age of 59. Jeff’s health declined drastically over the past 2 years after he endured a heart attack, blood clots in the lungs, and difficulty in performing daily tasks due to degrading knees.

Jeff was born on September 12, 1966 in Colorado Springs, CO to Russell and Elaine Covington of Limon, CO. His two sisters, Vianne and Christy, eagerly welcomed him home. He was the most adorable baby, and Christy loved getting to hold him, feed him, climb into his crib with him, and play with him. He was a super sweet and lovable little boy.

Jeff graduated from Limon High School in May, 1984. From there he went to college for awhile in Glenwood Springs. After deciding higher education wasn’t the path he wanted to pursue, Jeff tried a variety of jobs in a variety of places in Colorado (Greeley, Colorado Springs, Agate, Genoa, etc. to name a few). Despite the numerous places Jeff temporarily called home, he always felt drawn back to Limon. This was his community, and he always took great pride in his hometown. Til his death, he kept Vianne and Christy informed about events in the area. He was, forever, a Badger.

Helping to care for his parents til their deaths in 2010 and 2022, was one of the greatest services Jeff performed. He was always available to help them, and his life was never the same after they passed. He was a dedicated and loving son, and his sisters are extremely grateful that he was available to help them during their aging years and health battles.

Jeff loved his cats with all his heart. They were his kids, his buddies, his nurses, and were one of the biggest reasons he persevered.

Jeff also worshipped his nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He could never keep a secret, so it was always a challenge to share news about them before he did. We wish he could have met the new great nephew and great niece that were born this past May, but he did at least have the opportunity to meet everyone else. Though sometimes annoying, lol, we would all do anything to have his numerous texts and postings continue.

Our beloved brother lived a life defined by quiet strength, simple pleasures and an unwavering devotion to the people he loved. He loved fishing with friends, and we wish he would have had more time to participate in the hobby he enjoyed so much. To those who didn’t know him well, he could sometimes be a bit gruff on the outside, but anyone who truly knew him understood that deep down he had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone on a moment’s notice whenever he could. Jeff leaves behind a legacy of quiet generosity and fierce loyalty.

Being from a christian home and raised in the church, Jeff knew his savior and is now with him. Jeff’s parents, stillborn baby brother, grandparents and many aunts, uncles and cousins were also there to welcome him into paradise, and for that, we are eternally grateful. Jeff is survived by 2 sisters and their spouses, 3 nieces and their spouses, 1 nephew and his spouse, 2 additional nephews, 3 great nieces and 3 great nephews who will forever miss “Uncle Jeff”.

A celebration of life will be held for Jeff on Friday, October 9, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Limon Methodist Church. A luncheon will be held at the church following the service.

Donations can be made in Jeff’s name to Humane Colorado - Buddy Center (humanecolorado.org) in honor of the love Jeff has always had for his animals.
