Larry James Padilla, of Agate, Colorado, passed away suddenly on May 21, 2026. He was born on June 6, 1948, and lived a life defined by hard work, devotion to family, faith, and an ability to bring laughter to those around him. At the time of his passing, he was accompanied by his wife, Rosario, whose love and support remained constant throughout his life.
Larry was born to Rockie Padilla and Josephine Salazar. Family remained at the center of Larry’s life throughout the years.
A lifelong worker, Larry held many jobs and was never afraid of hard work. Over the years, he worked as a taxi driver in the Denver metropolitan area, a ranch hand in Agate, Colorado, and a car salesman in Limon, Colorado. Many people throughout the area fondly knew him as “The Burrito Man,” a nickname that reflected the friendly personality and community connections he built wherever he went.
Larry found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved singing karaoke, spending time fishing, collecting coins, and gathering miniature figurines. He was a faithful member of the Jehovah’s Witness congregation in Limon, Colorado, and his faith remained an important part of his life. He especially cherished the opportunity to watch his children participate in school sports, rarely missing a chance to support them and share in their successes. Those moments remained some of his fondest memories.
Above all else, Larry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and provider. He was married to the love of his life, Rosario Padilla, for 58 years. Together they built a family grounded in love, perseverance, and commitment. Larry was known as a strong, hardworking man who always provided for those he loved. He had a remarkable sense of humor, loved to tell jokes, and could always find a way to make people laugh. His positive spirit and appreciation for life left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Rosario Padilla; his children, Larry Padilla Jr., Denise Cutler, and Jason Padilla; his sister, Irene Davis; and his ten cherished grandchildren, Alia Padilla Santo, Rocky Padilla, Anthony Padilla, Jesse Padilla, DeShon Gallegos, Bella Cutler, Brady Cutler, Kai Padilla, Zachary Padilla, and Romeo Padilla. He was preceded in death by his son, Ricardo Padilla.
Larry’s family takes comfort in the memories he leaves behind—the laughter he shared, the lessons he taught through his example, and the unwavering love he showed throughout his life. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
