LaVon Jacobs was born July 15, 1939, to Orin and Clara Einertson and raised in Limon Colorado. She graduated from Limon High School where she met her future husband of 54+ years, Colonel Ronald Jacobs, U.S. Army, Retired. Following high school, they were married and dedicated 30 years of their lives to the United States Army. Over the course of their Army Career, they moved 23 times and had four children (two born in foreign countries). They were stationed at various locations around the world including two tours in Germany for a total of six years, two years in Korea, and while Ron served one year tour in Vietnam, LaVon remained in Limon. They were also stationed in ten states including Oklahoma, Maryland, Wisconsin, Kansas, Missouri, Kentucky, Texas, Washington DC, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Upon retirement, they moved back to Texas.
LaVon was very proud to call herself an Army Wife. She assisted Army families in her husband’s unit providing support to the spouses and children while the Soldier was deployed. She also served in countless volunteer groups and charities throughout the years supporting local communities where they were stationed.
LaVon’s greatest joy were her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her four children Amy, Linda, Michael, and Robert; eleven grandchildren Brandy, Frank, Matt, Matthew, McKenna, Alex, Andrew, Austin, Madison, Katelyn, and Taylor; four great grandchildren Megan, Adam, Finley, and Nikolai; and her brother Arlen. LaVon was preceded in death by her Mother, Father, Brother Ralph and Sister Dian.
She passed away peacefully with all four of her children at her bedside at Franklin Park Memory Care in Round Rock, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer that a donation be made in LaVon’s to Walks Camp Lutheran, c/o Kim Korsvold, 53898 State Road 71, Limon, CO 80828.
