Martin (Marty) Lanning passed away February 4th at the age of 31.
Born October 29 in Las Vegas, where he lived for five years, moving to Boulder City. He played several recreational sports, settling quickly on soccer. His family then moved to Detroit Lakes, MN, where he finished high school. His glory days were playing soccer with what would become his life-long friends. He also enjoyed fishing, bike riding (including dirt biking), and playing video games.
He moved to Colorado and became a skilled carpenter, working in the Evergreen area.
Marty was a gifted guitarist and piano player. Never having taken a piano lesson, his playing was wonderful to hear.
He was the most caring, supportive friend a person could want, would make anyone laugh when a laugh was needed, and refused to participate in any kind of turmoil. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Marty leaves his mom and dad (Jackie and Don), sister and brother-in-law (Emily and Matt Hoff), two nephews (Sawyer and Declan Hoff) and one niece (Jocelyn Maguire), numerous other relatives, and his two beloved dogs (Koivu and Mikko).
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 pm, April 20, at Saron Lutheran Church in Strasburg. In lieu of flowers, pay it forward for someone in need, donate to NAMI focusing on panic attacks, give to an animal shelter, or to your favorite charity.
