Marvin Wray Walters

March 11, 1938 — May 9, 2022

Marvin W. Walters, long-time resident of Burlington, CO, passed away May 9th, 2022 in Altus, Oklahoma. Marvin was born March 11, 1938 in Wray, Colorado to Marvin and Mable (Andrews) Walters. He grew up west of the Bonny Dam. In 1956, Marvin enlisted in the Unites States Navy where he served on the USS Yorktown during the Korean War as a port catapult operator and he continued to serve his country until 1960. Marvin married the love of his life Bonnie Beeson, December 26, 1957 in Burlington, CO. To this union were born 2 sons, Rick and Randy. Marvin and Bonnie shared 64 glorious years together and were blessed to live in many places including, Washington, California, Colorado and Oklahoma. Marvin spent the majority of his life farming and ranching. When he retired, he worked for the Division of Wildlife checking fishing licenses at the Bonny Dam. He served as President of the Isaac Walton League for several years and was also part of the Bonny Community Club. He enjoyed hunting and would often hunt coyotes, deer and elk. He also loved shooting prairie dogs in his free time. When he wasn’t hunting you could find him playing pool, snooker and craps. Marvin is preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Mable (Andrews) Walters; son Rick Walters; brother Arlyn Walters; sister Donna Kay, a baby sister and nephew Mark Wood. He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Bonnie (Beeson) Walters, son Randy (Micki) Walters; sister Bonnie (Don) McKee; grandchildren Dusty (Tabitha) Walters and their children Trent, Emily, Treigh and Savannah; Bryson (Lindsey) Short and their children Blaise and Barrett and Calli Walters and her fiancé Zach Jones. A graveside service is scheduled for 11 am, Saturday, May 14th at Fairview Cemetery in Burlington, CO.
