Mary D. Halvorson

Mary Darlene Halvorson, 91, of Aurora, CO, passed away early June 4 surrounded by family.

Darlene was born on June 30, 1932 to Mary and Nathan Wright in Thurman, CO. Darlene grew up in a very close knit family on a farm on the eastern plains of Colorado. She attended Sunny Slope School in Thurman, and graduated with a small class in 1950.

Darlene met Larry at a local country music gathering where she loved watching her dad play the fiddle. Darlene and Larry were married in 1952 and went on to have two daughters, Carol and Sherri, three granddaughters, Kim, Nicole and Ashlyn, and three great grandchildren, Mary, Abby and, the first boy in the family, Nathan.

Darlene's devotion to the Lord was truly inspiring. She dedicated her days to studying the scriptures and praying fervently for many. She was also known for her quick laughter, uplifting spirit, ability to become fast friends, and her willingness to assist anyone in need. She welcomed many family and friends to stay in her home. Darlene took pride in her 35 years of volunteering with the Aurora Medical Center Auxiliary.

Darlene was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Nathan, sisters, Ruby, Marge, Elma, Delpha, and Mildred, husband Lawrence and son-in-law, Lynn. She is survived by her sister Ardis, her brother Sonny, her daughters and son-in-law, Carol and   Sherri (Mark), granddaughters Kim, Nicole and Ashlyn and great grandchildren, Mary, Abby and Nathan and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at New Life Community Church on Monday, June 10 at 10:30 a.m.
