Mary Maxine Lyons was born on April 16, 1944 to Howard Hess and Mary (Ditch) Hess in Dodge City, KS. Maxine was the 3rd child and only daughter of 5 children. Maxine passed away on April 8, 2018 in Limon, CO.
Maxine started school in a one room school house north of Limon. When she reached second grade she began attending the Limon Public School. She graduated from Limon Public School in 1963. Maxine met Richard “Dick” Lyons at the Nordica Restaurant where she worked. They dated for some time and married in June of 1964 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Together they had 3 children, Dennis, Kimby, and Marlon Lyons.
Maxine moved to Thornton, CO where she worked at Target Inc. for 20 years. She decided to move back to Limon in September of 2014 to be with her daughter Kimby McAfee and family.
Maxine leaves behind two brothers Lonnie Hess and Kenneth (Esther) Hess, her two children, daughter Kimby (Gary) McAfee and son Marlon (Julie) Lyons, her 5 grandchildren Jordan Smithson, Megan (Cody) Waite, Dylon Lyons, Benjamin Jozwiak, and Lukas Lyons, 1 great granddaughter Gentry Waite, and many nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in death by her grandparents, her parents, Howard and Mary Hess, two brothers Leonard and Lester Hess, and son Dennis Lyons.
Visitation Friday April 13, 2018 at 12:00 P.M. -2:00 P.M. at Love Funeral Home 225 F Ave, Limon, CO, Funeral Service Friday April 13, 2018 at Love Funeral Home Chapel, at 2:00 P.M. Burial to follow at Pershing Cemetery, Limon, Colorado.
