Miles Collin Brent

July 24, 2012 — May 30, 2023

Miles Collin Brent was born to Ephron and Bobbie Brent on July 24, 2012, at their home located five miles north of Arriba, Colorado. He was the youngest of three children including a sister, Nayvee Mae, and a brother, Dillon Ryan. From his early years, he showed to have a very caring, joyful, and curious soul, never wanting to miss out on anything this life had to offer.  Today, these qualities are a reflection of everything he was–and still is–to the people and world around him.

Miles cherished so much about life, but one thing that topped the list was spending time with his family and friends, usually by playing some sort of sport, or some sort of board or video game. Sports that he liked were football, baseball, and basketball, and he spent much of his extra time wanting to learn and talk about them. In fact, he and his cousin recently created their own YouTube channel called The Football Brothers for the simple purpose to discuss anything, and everything, sports-related. Some of his favorite board games and video games included: The Farming Game, Throw Throw Burrito, Halo, and Minecraft (Survival Mode).

He had a hunger for knowledge and learning about anything that interested him such as cooking, baking, rocks, and gardening. He frequently helped in the kitchen with meals and when he discovered something he wanted to cook or bake, he didn't hesitate. He loved being a student at Arriba-Flagler Elementary, where he learned to lead by helping others when they needed it. He also was a member of the Heartland 4-H club where he practiced discipline and hard work, and his projects usually consisted of gardening, pigs, and leather craft. The memory of his presentation about pigs will always be a special one, when the 4-H leader, following his presentation, asked, “Now, Miles, how does your presentation about football relate to your project about pigs?”, and Miles’s response was, “Because footballs are made out of pigskin.”

Miles had big dreams, as every young, determined boy does, and he had a goal to be in the NFL someday, but he likely would have settled for the NBA, or MLB, whichever came first. Still, he embraced the family businesses of moving houses and working in the welding shop. His handmade belt buckles were getting pretty good, and he often insisted on riding in the houses as they were being moved down the road!

Aside from hanging out with friends, learning at school, participating in 4-H, and excelling at sports, Miles was captivated by new experiences. Family trips to Chicago, California, Florida, the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, and the Dominican Republic, allowed him to meet new people, make lasting friendships, try new restaurants, and enjoy new foods. Miles always looked forward to “dental dates” with mom, where dental appointments were routinely followed by a nice meal at a chosen new restaurant, followed by a quick stop at Whole Foods to purchase an exotic fruit to take home for the whole family to try.

Miles was also loved dearly by his step-father, Luke, step-mother, Laura, and step-brother, Jace. They invested in him with their time and supported his interests, as well as introduced him to new ones. These relationships, too, played an important part in who he was, and the young man he was becoming.

Miles loved God and had a desire for spiritual growth. He enjoyed going to church, prayerfully reading the Bible, and living the greatest commandments. He wanted so much to give his time, talents, and money as often as he could.

Miles went to be with the Lord following a tragic accident on May 30th, 2023, and his absence leaves a hole in many hearts, but his memory continues to live on through all those who knew him.

Miles is survived by his loving family and countless friends and relatives.
