Myrna Rush was born on April 25 1959 to the parents of Richard Masters and Myrtle (Rodwell) Burgess in Brush Colorado. Myrna lived in the Anton area and attended Arickaree School until her parents divorced. Upon her parents divorce she moved to Vona with her mom where she attended High Plains School. While attending there she participated in many school events. She played softball and participated in track where she held the school record for the 400 meter relay for many years. She worked different jobs while in high school and it was there that she met her husband Tom Rush. They were married for 39 years. To this union, 3 children were born, Bobbie, Christy, and Joseph.
Myrna held various jobs in her adult life including being a farmer’s wife, cleaning hotel rooms, and working at the nursing home in Limon. Her last career job landed her working for the state highway department for 19 years where she retired. She took much pride working for state where she took care of the Arriba Rest Area. She would often be found in the summers taking care off all the flower beds and keeping the facility clean and orderly for the traveling public.
In her spare time she was involved in the community helping 4H, helping with Girl Scouts, coaching tee ball in Arriba for few years and other various activities. Myrna was also named Honorary Parent Chaperone of the class of 2004. She was also an advent crocheter and enjoyed crocheting things for people. She made many, many afghans and many other items. She also liked going fishing. Myrna loved working with animals and helping out with them when she could. She also enjoyed spending time as much she could with her grandchildren. Another of Myrna’s hobbies was bowling. Myrna was an advent bowler and won many different awards over the many years she bowled. She enjoyed spending time with her teammates and meeting new friends.
Myrna passed away at the Lincoln Park assisted living in Hugo on Tuesday November 16, 2021. She is survived by her sons Bobbie, (Melissa), grandkids David, Cyril Rush,. Son Joseph (Mindi), grandkids Abbie, Devin Rush. Sisters: Janet Hixenbaugh (Chuck), Janice Niles (Raymond), Kathy Rowden (Brian), and brother Gerald Masters (Jill). She is also survived by her step mom Barbara Masters and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her parents, and daughter Christy.
Graveside services will be held at the Thurman Cemetery Nov 30th at 11:00 AM.
