Nancy M. Geesen

Nancy Mae (Stewart) Geesen, age 71, passed away on June 3, 2026, at Re-Care, a private memory care home in San Antonio, Texas.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church, 18000 E. Arapahoe Road, Aurora, CO 80016. The recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. A reception to celebrate Nancy’s life will take place immediately following the Mass in the church reception hall.

Nancy was born on July 21, 1954, in Denver, Colorado. She grew up on the family ranch in Elizabeth with her parents, sister, and brother. Throughout her childhood and youth, Nancy enjoyed being part of the Stewart family's wheat farming operation, which spanned more than 10,000 acres across Arapahoe and Elbert Counties.

When the family wasn't farming, Nancy enjoyed water skiing with her grandparents, Paul and Mable Stewart, on Cherry Creek Reservoir. She also cherished the extended hunting trips the Stewart family took to Colorado's Flat Tops, where she assisted her grandmother in taking down a six-by-six bull elk. Nancy loved the sport of rodeo and participated in Little Britches Rodeo and High School Rodeo. In 1970, she was crowned Elizabeth Stampede Queen, and she later graduated from Elizabeth High School in 1972, where she was a cheerleader.

At the age of 19, Nancy met the love of her life, Edward John Geesen II. They were married on September 1, 1973, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Castle Rock, Colorado. Nancy and Ed were inseparable, and their love and devotion to one another led to 52 years of marriage.

After marrying Ed, Nancy moved to Agate, Colorado, where she worked alongside him on the Geesen family cattle ranch. Together, they spent many happy years ranching and farming and raising their two daughters.

In the mid 1980’s Nancy also pursued her passion for hairstyling and fulfilled her dream of becoming a cosmetologist. She graduated from LaVonne Academy of Beauty in Denver and in 1988 she soon opened and operated her own salon, Limon Family Hair Care, in Limon, Colorado, where she proudly served the community for more than 10 years.

Later in life, Nancy and Ed moved to Heather Gardens Retirement Community in Aurora, Colorado, and later relocated to their home in Green Valley, Arizona. There they enjoyed retirement and cherished time with their three grandchildren: Kenya Reese David, Lincoln Edward David, and Hunter Matheson Grimm. Nancy was a loving and devoted grandmother who delighted in playing with her grandchildren and creating treasured memories with them.

In 2022, Nancy was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and dementia. In the late fall of 2025, she moved into The Villas Memory Care Community in Green Valley, Arizona. Following the unexpected passing of her husband in December 2025, Nancy's daughters moved her to a memory care facility in San Antonio, Texas, where she could be closer to and under the care of her oldest daughter, Ann.

Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a strong and hardworking woman who loved working alongside Ed in the fields and pastures on the ranch, she also experienced much joy and fulfillment in owning and running her own salon, yet she was equally devoted to her family. Nancy enjoyed helping her daughters with their schoolwork and 4-H projects and took great joy in making birthdays and special occasions memorable. She especially loved hosting large family gatherings and creating lasting memories with those she loved. Above all, her greatest joy was being Ed's wife and sharing life's journey by his side. The two were truly inseparable and deeply loved doing life together.

Nancy is survived by her two daughters, Ann (Geesen) Grimm and her husband, Patrick, of San Antonio, Texas, and Jill (Geesen) David and her husband, Luke, of Parker, Colorado; her granddaughter, Kenya Reese David; her grandsons, Lincoln Edward David and Hunter Matheson Grimm; her sister, Diane Stewart; her brother, Jerry Stewart; and several nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Edward John Geesen II, and her parents, Junior "Ralph" Stewart and Wanda (Brungardt) Stewart.
