Neva K. Iseli

Neva Iseli, a loving sister, wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother, passed peacefully at her home Friday, June 21st, 2024. Neva was born to James and Thelma Thornburg on March 6th, 1952, in Denver, Colorado. The first of two children, Neva, was soon joined by her brother, James Wade, February 17th 1958; this completed their family. 

Neva went to college at UNC, where she earned her Bachelors in Education. Neva loved school and she was often heard saying if she could get paid to go to school, she would have. Neva met the love of her life, Darrel Iseli, while working at the grocery store in Bennett. They quickly became inseparable and were married on June 9th, 1973, and shared 51 wonderful years together. They welcomed their first child, Eric James, into this world, September 1st, 1980, followed by Anne Elizabeth on December 18th, 1985, and Todd Lee on February 28th, 1987. The family was now complete, and they lived happily in the house they built. Neva stayed home with her children until Todd started school full time, and then she started substitute teaching. She soon got a full-time position at Strasburg Elementary and continued working there until she retired in 2017. 

Neva loved spending time in the mountains, especially at their cabin at Red Feather Lakes where she loved to camp, fish, and read. She was also very crafty and enjoyed various crafting activities. Neva happily welcomed their first grandchild, Lucas James, into the world on September 2nd, 2017, followed a few years later by their granddaughter Karlee Ann on March 29th, 2020. Neva and Darrel moved to Fleming, Colorado, to be close to grandchildren in 2022. The grandchildren were the light of her eyes. She loved them unconditionally, and they could do no wrong. Neva was a wonderful grandma, and she never missed a chance to get something for the kids. She loved going to watch their games, school programs, and recitals. They were her world. 

Neva is preceded in death by her parents and her daughter Anne. She is survived by her husband, Darrel Iseli; her sons Eric Iseli and Todd Iseli; her daughter-in-law, Sueann Iseli; her brother, Wade Thornburg; her sister-in-law, Amy Thornburg; her nephew, Chris (Corey) Thornburg; and niece, Kelsey (Will) Fischer.
