Peggy Mae Theisen

December 19, 1930 — July 14, 2017

Peggy Mae Peterson was born on December 19, 1930, to Myrtle Marie (Bridges) and Hans Pete Peterson in Denver, Colorado and passed away Friday, July 14, 2017, at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush, Colorado. Peggy attended South High in Denver Colorado until mid-term of her senior year. Her step-father, Clarence Sheesley, worked for the Union Pacific Railroad and was transferred to Hugo, Colorado. Peggy graduated from Hugo High School in May of 1948. Upon graduation, Peggy worked as a waitress at the Greymont Hotel on main street in Hugo. While waitressing, she met a young man that would eventually be her husband, John E. Theisen. Peggy also worked at the ASCS office in Hugo. Peggy and John E. Theisen married on November 24, 1956, and made their home southwest of Hugo. Two children were born to this union, John Kelly and Linda May and Peggy enjoyed staying home to raise their children on the family farm. Peggy was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, a lifetime member of VFW Post 6612 Ladies Auxiliary, Treasurer of the Altar and Rosary Society for over 25 years, member of the Roundhouse Preservation, Inc., member of the Hugo Library board and also served on the RSVP board. Peggy enjoyed cooking, embroidery, reading, African violets and her garden. She adored her four grandchildren and was always available to help any time she was called. She moved to Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush, Colorado in the Fall of 2008 and resided there for the last 8 1/2 years. While a resident there, she enjoyed bingo, attending church services and going on various outings. One of many friends while there was Moses, the black labradoodle. Peggy is survived by her husband of 60 years, John, her son J. Kelly (Barb) of Fort Morgan, Colorado and daughter, Linda (Greg Ashmore) of Hugo, Colorado; grandchildren Kristin (Elmer) Hernandez of Minneola, Florida; Charlie Theisen of Denver, Colorado; Kurtis Ashmore of Broomfield, Colorado and Shawn Ashmore of Gunnison, Colorado.
