Raymond C. Alexis, age 82, passed from Alzheimer’s on Monday, September 25, 2017. He was born on December 9, 1934 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Paul and Grace Kirby.
After attending Wagner College in Staten Island, New York, he served in the US Army stationed in Iceland. He married Joan Alexis (Fettes) of Longmont, Colorado in November of1956 in Ozone Park, New York. He worked hard as a drafting supervisor at Bell Telephone Laboratories for 33 years. As an avid chess player and collector himself, he published and edited several chess periodicals. He also loved to bowl and root for the New York Yankees.
He survived by his wife Joan, five children: Robert and Michelle Alexis of Naples, Florida, Jeanne and Todd Thompson, Jill and Jason Coonts of Limon, Colorado, Jacalyn and Alan Seewald of Mead, Colorado, and Jeff and Holly Alexis of Lakewood, Colorado. Also surviving him are his two brothers, Eddie and his wife Carmel of New Mexico, and Richard and his wife Betsy of Florida; others surviving him include his ten grandchildren: Bryceton Alexis of Naples, Florida, Ryan Kaufman of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Kyle Kaufman of Bandon, Oregon, Ethan Kaufman of Denver, Colorado, Katelyn Turner of Limon, Colorado, Ian Turner of Gunnison, Colorado, Nathaniel and Emma Coonts of Limon, Colorado, Garson Thompson of Hugo, Colorado, and Tarek Thompson with U.S. Navy; and his seven great grandchildren.
Private family services will be held for Mr. Alexis at a later date.
