Richard W. Davis

October 24, 1942 — June 29, 2018

Richard Wade Davis was born at Boothroy Memorial Hospital in Goodland, KS on October 24, 1942.  He was the third of 5 boys born to Wade and Mabel (Winfrey) Davis.

Rich spent lots of time as a young boy with his Aunt Marjorie Davis and Uncle Carl Reynolds on their farm until Carl died in a farming accident.

Rich graduated in 1960 from Kanorado High School.  He enjoyed working and hanging out with his pals after graduating.  Rich joined the Army National Guard in November, 1963.  He was discharged as E5 Sergeant in November, 1969. 

Rich married Janet Williams on April 11, 1964 at the Christian Church in Burlington, CO. 

To this union, three children were born: Lisi Renee, Trace Wade, and Jana Nicole.

Rich farmed for Britt Bell for a number of years and was his right hand man. While there, he implemented many successful farming practices and innovations. 

In 1989, Rich and Janet bought Davis and Davis Liquor and now 29 years later, it is still in the family. 

Rich passed away in his home on June 29, 2018 after a year-long battle with cancer.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents Wade and Mabel, wife Janet, daughter Lisi, brother Jimm, father-in-law Bob Williams, sister-in-law Barb Davis, sister-in-law Peggy Witzel, and sister-in-law Gail Williams.

Richard is survived by son Trace (Kandy) Davis, daughter Nikki (Gerry) Ekberg, grandson Nathaniel Ekberg (Paige Jordan), grandson Tyson (Katherine) Davis, great granddaughter Kiri Davis, brothers Garold (Lu) Davis, Gail Davis, Neil (Georgette) Davis, mother-in-law Louise Williams, brother-in-law Troy Williams, brother-in-law Ray (Kathleen) Williams, sister-in-law Jackie (Steve) Klee, and brother-in-law Sonny Witzel.

There will be a private family service held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Kit Carson County Cattlewomen Pink Chaps Fund in Richard's memory and may be left at or sent to Love Funeral Home, 377 15th Street, Burlington, Colorado 80807.
