Richard Young, age 93 years, passed away on January 09,2018, in Austin, Texas. He had been living with his daughter Dixie and family since his stroke in December 2014.
“Dick”, as he was called by most, was born December 6, 1924, to George and Lena Young near Arickaree, Colorado. Dick spent his life on his ranch northeast of Simla. He raised dry land wheat and ran cattle.
He was very dedicated to helping the community. He served on the school board, Cattlemen’s Association, Soil Conservation, VFW, and 4H. He had two terms of county commissioner and served on ECCOG. He was also active in the volunteer fire department for over 20 years. He was a director in the Production Credit Association.
He is survived by: his children Marvin and Dixie (husband Doyle); his grandchildren Matt (wife Annetta), Bonita (husband Gene), Rosanna ( husband Eric), Maressa ( husband Josh), and Nathan (wife Maisie); and his 14 great grand children and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Marjorie, a daughter Pat, his parents, and all of his siblings.
Services will be held at the Simla Baptist Church at 10:00 AM on January 17, 2018 with a viewing one hour prior to the service starting at 9 AM. Burial will immediately follow at the Simla Cemetery in Simla, Colorado.
