Roderick Russell Magee Sr.

February 4, 1925 — April 5, 2017

Roderick Russell Magee, Sr. passed away peacefully on April 5, 2017 at home in Yoder, Colorado. Rod was born at Jordan Hospital in Plymouth, Massachusetts to Joseph and Beatrice (Bumpus) Magee. Rod attended Manumet Elementary school and proceeded to Plymouth Junior and Senior High School from where he graduated. After high school Rod enlisted in the Army and served during WWII. He then transferred to the Air Force and while stationed in San Antonio he attended Brown School of Business and Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. In 1984, Rod married Beverly Larqent. He had five children, Kathryn, Roderick, II, Michael, Jeffrey, and Joseph. No matter how busy life got, Rod always made time for his family. During retirement, Rod settled down on a ranch near Yoder, Colorado. He and Beverly have lived there since 1987. Rod stayed active in his community and was a member of the VFW & American Legion, Colorado Cattlemen’s Association, “R” Calf USA Association. In his down time Rod enjoyed flying along with farming and ranching. Rod was preceded in death by his loving parents and sisters Dorothy Mae, Louise and Elizabeth, and brothers Wilfred and Robert. Rod is survived by his loving wife Beverly Magee; children Kathryn (Darrel) Loper, Roderick (Mary) Magee II, Michael (Lisa) Magee, Jeffrey (Jeremy) Magee, and Joseph (Dawnee) Magee. Along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He has one sister, Virginia, who lives in Maryland.
