Seth Jackson Burian, 29 of Vona, CO passed on unexpectedly on the afternoon of Saturday, December 5th 2020 following a vehicular accident.
Seth was born on July 8th 1991 in Burlington, CO to Jack and Cheryl Burian. Seth came into this world on his dad’s birthday-he was the best birthday gift Jack ever received. On their drive to the hospital on that July 8th afternoon Jack and Cheryl saw a perfect double rainbow, a double rainbow that they coincidentally saw for the next two consecutive years on their shared birthday of July 8th. They knew it was a sign of what a blessing Seth would be in their lives. Seth was eagerly welcomed home by his older sister Elise, who took the role of big sister very seriously and definitely enjoyed trying to keep Seth in line.
From an early age Seth was very inquisitive and curious. He was quite the dare devil and his parents became very well acquainted with the Emergency Room and doctor’s offices due to Seth’s antics. He loved taking his toys apart and putting them back together--definitely following in his mechanic father’s footsteps. Seth was privileged to grow up with numerous cousins and family members close by. He spent most of his childhood living north of Seibert Colorado, where from a young age he spent many hours alongside his dad in their family owned business-JB Automotive or helping his mom at the Seibert Travel Plaza. Seth was very close to his dad and when Jack became ill, he helped in any way he could. His dad’s death in 2008 left a tremendous void in Seth’s life.
Seth attended Hi-Plains School from kindergarten through his senior year and was surrounded by cousins. The teachers at Hi-Plains learned early on their jobs would be much easier if they kept Seth and his cousin Zeb’s desks far apart from each other. He was likeable, outgoing and very active in sports. They were all thrilled when not only the football team and basketball team but also the track team brought home State Championship Titles during his high school athletic career. During the summers of high school and college Seth helped his cousin Bryant on the family farm that his Grandpa Kenny Pickard started. It did not take long for him to develop a love of farming. Seth graduated from Hi-Plains High School in 2010. He went on to attend Fort Hays State University, where he earned his Bachelor Degree in Business Management and a Minor in Finance.
Seth then moved to Denver and worked at AT&T for a year. He enjoyed his time in the city but his strong desire to farm and his small-town roots led him back to Eastern Colorado. He moved north of Vona where he began the process of remodeling his new home. Bryant and Seth developed a business partnership that led to a strong friendship and mutual respect for each other. Seth’s mechanical abilities and strong work ethic made him a valuable asset. The farming season was always a busy time and Seth, Bryant and his cousin Tyler made a great team, but they were always relieved when harvest was in the books! During his downtime from farming in the winter Seth worked at UPS where he enjoyed getting to know a lot of new faces.
Seth was very compassionate and loved all people and animals alike, especially dogs. Growing up he had numerous dachshund’s but most recently he had a new best friend- his rescue dog Arlo. Seth always brought Arlo to the farm if his young cousins were around for a visit and they delighted in having Seth show them the tricks he had taught Arlo.
Seth loved life and lived it to the fullest. Some of the many activities he enjoyed doing included snowboarding, racquetball, hiking, playing guitar, golfing and traveling with his family. He was fortunate enough to go on several trips with his mom and sister including Costa Rica, Hawaii, and Las Vegas. They also vacationed to New Zealand together and all agreed traveling to New Zealand was an experience of a lifetime.
Growing up in a small town means developing friendships and relationships with people that last a lifetime. His friends meant a lot to him and there was nothing he enjoyed more than spending time with those close to him. Even though his time with us was cut short we take comfort in the fulfilling life Seth had built for himself. He loved his job, he loved his community and he was surrounded by many loving friends and family members.
Seth was preceded in death by his father Jack Burian; grandparents Kenneth and Jo Ann Pickard, grandfather Tom Burian; uncles Pat Rueb, Carl Matschke, Jim Baylie; aunt Barbara Matschke Duvall; cousins Audrey Hase, Larry Matschke, and Earl Matschke.
Seth is survived by his mother Cheryl Burian of Colorado Springs, CO; his sister Elise Burian of Morrison, CO; his grandmother Nadine Burian of Vona, CO; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Memorials may be to the Seibert Community Ambulance in Seth's memory and may be left at or sent to Love Funeral Home, 377 15th Street, Colorado 80807.
