Shara L. Griffith

Shara Lyn Griffith was born in Denver, CO to Don & Faye Miller on July 25, 1954. She always lamented that she could remember sitting on the floor and her sister jumping around her in a circle. That dynamic never really changed! The family lived in the house Don & Faye built in 1952 and a very happy, ideal childhood was had by the girls. Shara attended Limon Public Schools and was a cheerleader for 6 years — 7th grade through Senior year. She was a math whiz and always carried excellent grades.

Shara initially went to the University of Colorado, living with the Pearson twins part of that time, and then moved to Oklahoma State in Stillwater, at the request of her sister, who was living in KS. She had already met Zeke Griffith, the love of her life the previous summer. Not liking Stillwater much, she was happy to move to Wichita to be near Zeke. When Terri and Justin Spencer married in 1976, Donnie asked Shara if they could just make it a double wedding. Shara said she was too young to get married. However...she and Zeke married in February 1976 about a month after Terri and Justin!

Shara's marriage to Zeke was the envy of everyone who knew them. They were together over 50 years and 49 of that was in marriage. They moved to Colorado in 1981 where Zeke worked with Donnie part time and rodeo'd in the summer. Zeke, not being a farmer, announced in the middle of harvest one summer, that he had to go to a rodeo. Everyone's eyes got big and they held their breath to see what Donnie was going to say! When someone told Shara what had happened, she cried! Someone should have warned Zeke ahead of time!!

They built a home and arena south of Donnie and Faye and lived there happily the rest of their years together. Even after the rheumatoid arthritis got the best of Shara, Zeke cared for her and they had plenty of good times, until she had to go. What good fortune to experience that kind of love before you leave this world because so few people do!

Shara is survived by her husband, Zeke; her sister, Terri; her niece, Donnelly (Ethan); Zeke's sisters: Melody and Sandy; and 5 nephews. When Donnelly marries in June of this year, there will be a chair placed where the family sits for Aunt Shara.
