Steve was born on May 21, 1959 to Kenneth and Betty Evans in Denver, Colorado. He spent his life in Limon, Colorado until graduation in 1977. He then moved to Stanberry, Missouri to help on the family farm. At this time, he met his wife Susan at church. They wed in 1979, and attended college for two years. Steve had a passion for flying and even had his pilot license almost before his driver’s license. His love was being in the air. He was a cargo pilot for many years. Steve was very environmentally aware and converted a Honda Civic and Volkswagen pickup into electric vehicles. In 1996, through a family friend, he and Susan were able to adopt a child, Charley, to become a father. Steve and Charley loved to travel, stopping at different museums and towns learning history. He collected quite an assortment of maps over the years. In 2011 he returned to Genoa, Colorado where he spent his remaining years.
Steve was survived by his wife/life partner Susan; son Charley; friend Hope Mahoney; sister Stacey and Martin Jaques; brother Randy Pickett; his birth father; and other family and loved ones.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Betty Evans; his birth mother and parent-in-law Ivan and Crystal Wilson; along with other family and loved ones.
