Vicki Jo Ware, 75, of Hugo was born June 5th, 1945 and passed away February 5th, 2021. She was born in her parents’ home on the south side of Hugo to Ora F. Ware, Jr. (Bus) and Bonita Lavonne Jarvis Ware (Bonnie).
She grew up in Hugo and then attended and graduated from Colorado State University in Fort Collins. Shortly after graduation, she was recruited by the Department of Defense to work as a computer programmer. After several years, she returned to her hometown where she worked at several jobs including Kay’s Corner Store, K.C Electric, and Lincoln County Clerk & Recorder’s Office, where she worked for over 30 years.
Vicki enjoyed music, reading and crafting, especially counted cross-stitch ornaments which she gave to members of her ornament club and to many other friends. She felt very strongly about the value of an education and served on the Hugo Library Board for 30 years as well.
Vicki was a patient, friendly, and generous person and was devoted to her family & friends. She had a killer sense of humor and was a devoted patriot with a deep love for our county. She was godmother to her niece and two nephews, and loved teasing and laughing with them, and often played card games with them when they were growing up.
Vicki is survived by her sister and brother-in law, Julie and Dick Davis, her niece Kimberly Miller; nephew Nathan Davis; great nieces Trista Davis, Mackenzie Miller and Jessie Zitowitz; great nephews Regin and Breylan Davis ; great-great nieces Mia and Lea Rodriguez, and sister Laurel Zitowitz.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her nephew Shane, and great nephews Riley Davis and Jake Zitowitz.
There will be a memorial service held on Saturday February 13th, 2021 at 2PM at the Hugo United Methodist Church, Hugo, CO 80821.
