Viola Rogich, child of God, devoted wife, mother, sister and friend, has gone to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 85. Vi, as she was most affectionately known, passed away peacefully at the Lincoln Community Hospital in Hugo on September 17, 2023.
Born near Goshen, Indiana on March 2, 1938 she was the sixth of eight children blessed to Edward and Lizzie Ann Miller. She grew up on the family farm and was a faithful member of the community Mennonite church. Vi completed her nursing training in La Junta Colorado in 1967 and returned to Indiana for a short while before moving across the country to work in the public health system of Southern California. It was there that she met her husband Chris and was wed on September 1, 1972. Vi and her husband moved to Limon in 1976. 2 weeks later their son Steven was born.
Vi loved being an LPN and spent many days and nights taking care of the Eastern Colorado communities sick and elderly. Through her career she worked at the nursing homes in Hugo and Limon, provided home health care throughout Lincoln and Elbert Counties and went to work for the Limon Correctional Facility after it opened until she retired in 2006.
Vi was her son Steven’s biggest fan throughout high school and into his coaching career. She sat through countless football and basketball games, band and choir concerts. She adored her 2 grandchildren, and tried to attend as many of their events as she was able. She also cherished her involvement with the Ageless Angels, United Methodist Church, Hub City Senior Center and her weekly Thursday night Bingo.
Viola was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Lizzie Ann Miller , husband Chris Rogich, brothers John, Eli, and Freeman Miller, sister Sarah Miller. She is survived by her son Steven (Aundrea) , grandchildren Reese and Ava, brothers Alvin, Omar, and Truman Miller as well as numerous nieces, nephews and special friends she considered family.
